The Contemporary Persian Rug: Esther Elia Solo Exhibition
April 4–28 | Hecho a Mano, Santa Fe, NM
Blending family folklore, historical trauma, and visual storytelling, Albuquerque-based artist Esther Elia unveils The Contemporary Persian Rug — a solo exhibition of large-scale paintings inspired by the rich symbolism and cultural legacy of Persian rugs. A descendant of Assyrian refugees, Elia challenges notions of identity, safety, and tradition through intricate works that echo both her personal history and communal memory. The show opens Friday, April 4, with a public reception from 5–7 PM at Hecho a Mano, located at 129 W Palace Ave, Santa Fe.
