About the Event:
Join members of the Astronomical Society of Las Cruces for a monthly public stargazing night at the Leasburg Dam State Park Observatory. Held on the Saturday closest to the third quarter moon (when the moon is below the horizon), the event offers exceptionally dark skies perfect for deep-sky viewing.
Society members will operate the observatory’s 16″ Meade telescope and set up additional telescopes outside. On a clear night, you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye and, through the telescopes, explore nebulae, globular clusters, planetary nebulae, and distant galaxies.
What to Bring:
Dress warmly, bring a red-light flashlight if you have one, and arrive before dark for the best experience. All ages and experience levels are welcome.
