About the Exhibition:

Strata Gallery presents Turning From a Fixed Direction, an Established Member solo exhibition by Lita Kenyon.

Kenyon’s work explores abstraction’s ability to evoke balance and tension without relying on narrative. She avoids specific references, allowing meaning to emerge organically as images blend and shift within fields of color and gestural marks. Her inspiration comes from nonobjective forms as they emerge in the composition.

Her process is guided by intuition‑driven methods. Each piece begins with a gesture and evolves through scraping, repainting, and layering.

About the Artist:

Lita Kenyon received her MA in Fine Art from Northern Illinois University. Her work has been exhibited in Seattle, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Portland (OR), and Columbia (MO). This exhibition marks her first solo show in New Mexico.
