A workshop centered around exploring our perception of space and the personal connections that we develop
The places we live, work and play in are critical to our experiences. How we perceive space, through visual, oral and kinetic ideas of orientation, is complex and informed by a myriad of social and cultural influences. In this workshop, we will work with the idea of mapping—how abstract representation of space can be a tool for personal growth and social practice. Using multimedia tools, we will create personal visual languages for identifying and relating to place. We will learn about ways of representing space that exist outside of colonial definitions of mapping as well as look at how mapping can be used for social progress.
Age / Skill Level: Teens (15-19) and adults (20 and up). Suitable for beginners and practicing artists.
