About the Film: Journey Down the Gila is the first feature-length film to visually capture the 37-mile river run through the Gila Wilderness. Directed by Albuquerque filmmaker David Garcia, the documentary tells the powerful story of three New Mexico teens who died in service to the wild places they loved. It follows their mothers’ journey down the river their children sought to protect and highlights the ongoing struggle to keep the Gila River flowing free.
